What is Trust.Zone?

Trust.Zone is a service you use as an online tool to keep yourself hidden online. If you are looking for a VPN that helps you keep your activity anonymous, you can use one of these. Then your internet traffic is encrypted and redirected through their VPN tunnel.

Actually, they work like any other VPN service. A VPN can be used for several reasons. Some just want to be able to remain anonymous. Being anonymous online may be desirable for various reasons. Perhaps you want to protect yourself from hackers at home and on open networks such as airports? Or you might want to access pages that governments have blocked. Some people get a VPN to unblock blocked content on Netflix.

A VPN exists to protect you, or your business. Trust.Zone thus ensures that:

  • Stay anonymous online
  • Prevent your ISP from tracking everything you do
  • Unblocks locked websites
  • Protects your privacy

Is Trust.Zone safe?

It is difficult to guarantee your safety 100%. Then there are always some actors who are more serious than others. Trust.Zone obviously wants to convey to you that they are safe as it is their source of income. It says on their website that they do not log any information about you. All they want is an email address when you sign up. We at VPNS always dig down as much as we can to get real facts on the table. If you read through their terms of use, you can read that, among other things, they cannot influence certain decisions involving third parties. This makes us a little unsure of what “third parties” can get for information about you. It’s kind of vague so we can’t say outright THAT they share information.

How much does Trust.Zone cost and is there a monthly trial?

There is no monthly trial at Trust.Zone. It is not very common for VPN services to offer this. However, they actually have a 3-day premium trial. You can then only connect to one device and use 1GB of data transfer.

If you then want to take out a longer subscription, the options are 1 month, 1 year and 2 years.

If you buy a month, it costs USD 90 a month. You then have unlimited surfing and can connect up to 3 devices.
1 year costs USD 40 a month. It is equivalent to the monthly subscription but unlimited surfing and connection to 3 devices.
For the 3-year premium, you only pay USD 30 a month! Unlimited surfing and now 5 devices to be able to connect.

We are a little concerned about the terms of use, which clearly state that you agree to use their service on a maximum of 3 devices at the same time. We tested connecting to 5 devices, which worked. But get worried if for some reason they could have fired us later? Really clever.

Regardless, Trust.Zone is really cheap in price. It’s a really good offer for the 2 year subscription. A general warning, however, is that the cheaper, the more red flags.

How many servers does Trust.Zone have?

There are 201 servers in a total of 99 countries. Most of the servers are located in Europe. This means that for us Scandinavians the speed should be kept good with a lot of servers close to us. Should we want to place ourselves in South Africa, however, speed and connection may be limited.

Does it work on netflix or svtplay?

A highly topical issue that is high on the agenda for many who get a VPN today. Trust.Zone has a lot of servers in North America which is really good for Netflix users. In these regions, it is usually series or films that we in Portugal want to access. It may actually take 6-9 months before that material becomes available to us. If you then have a VPN, you can solve that problem. You solve that by placing yourself on a server in, say, Canada. Here, your favorite series already released the newest season and now the computer thinks you are there. In this way you get around these blockages.

But did Netflix work on Trust.Zone then?
– YES! It worked perfectly. No interference at all. It connected well and the speed stayed consistent, so we didn’t have any bugs.

Does it work on SVT-play with?
– YES! It worked similarly on this site as well.

Does Trust.Zone have good speed?

Trust-Zone is one of the few sites that doesn’t brag about its speed. It usually bubbles with information about their fast channels and high speeds. We think they are betting more on their price and just accept that they are not the fastest.

We tested several of their servers. The further away we placed ourselves, the worse speed we got. This is of course due to the fact that there are not many servers in the same country. In Europe they have placed many and here we do not experience a problem either. Unfortunately, it is also the case that if there are many from the same supplier who want to be located in, say, South Africa, there will be high pressure on the server and the speed will be reduced. It is clearly felt in these countries: South Africa, Brazil and Australia.
However, Australia has a total of 5 servers but the distance probably contributes to the sluggish speed.

Remember that the speed of your own internet provider also affects this. A VPN cannot significantly improve your speed, but you need to have a good connection right from the start.

Does Trust.Zone have support if problems arise?

They are clear that they want you to read through their FAQ before contacting them. There is also a troubleshooting page you can use if you have your client via Windows. We tried contacting them anyway via the form on the help page. It was under all the criticism. We had to contact them with the same email twice and it also took 3 days before we got a reply. Trust.Zone is a slightly smaller VPN service and probably has poorer support due to of smaller employees. They write that there is support Monday-Friday 8am-6pm. There is no number to reach them on.

How do I get started?

As you can use Trust.Zone on several devices, there are different installation needs. If you only want to use a VPN for your mobile phone, all you have to do is register. You do that by buying one of their subscriptions and just providing your email. Here you will then receive login details. Once you’ve got what you need, you download their app and log in. Then select the country and server and you’re good to go.

If you are going to use a VPN for your computer, Xbox, Router or SmartTV, the installation looks a little different. On their website there are good guides for this. They go through for all different operating systems. However, you need to have purchased a subscription to access this. We had thought it would be good to be able to see before. Then it is easy to decide whether you think you can fix it.

We have installed their service on Android devices as well as Windows 10 and Xbox.
The first 2 were easy to install and we didn’t even have to use their cheat sheets on the website.
When we wanted to install it on the Xbox 360 it got a little more complicated though. It had difficulty connecting and finding the application inside the system. We were disconnected several times and had to completely log in again. After a lot of patience we finally got it working.

What payment options are available?

At Trust.zone you can pay with your usual debit and credit card. We do not recommend this as third parties can access information about you. It is also possible to pay with PayPal. We at VPNS check security, functions and connection, among other things, when we compare VPN services. Something that makes them get a better review from us is, among other things, if you can pay with cryptocurrencies. If you pay with a cryptocurrency, it will be even more difficult to trace back to you. This becomes important depending on what you intend to use your VPN for, of course. If you don’t want to download or get around blocked pages, it doesn’t really matter how you pay. Then it’s important for you to just be protected online.

You can actually pay with cryptocurrencies on Trust.Zone, which of course we think is great! Those who offer payment with cryptocurrency usually use Bitcoin. There are options here as well, but you can also pay with:

  • Emercon
  • Verge
  • Cloakcoin

Can I use it to download?

This is how downloading works. It’s actually not okay to download copyrighted material. It is rare that one is taken as far as the court. Your ISP can take legal action against you, but they usually send out warning letters or slow down your internet speed. However, should you get to the point where legal measures are introduced, you may be hit with fines to both the owner of the protected material and your internet provider. Torrent sites always save the IP addresses. This makes it very easy for authorities to trace your activity back to you.

The solution to this is of course a VPN. Here you hide your real IP address, and protect yourself from your internet provider being able to see what you are doing. Trust.Zone also states that they do not save any logs about you. If you have also paid for your subscription with a cryptocurrency, it is basically impossible to track you.

So the answer to the question is . YES! You can use Trust.Zone’s VPN to download.

Does Trust.Zone have a kill switch?

A Kill Switch is there to protect you if you lose the connection. Let’s say you’re on a download page and all of a sudden you get kicked out of your VPN connection (it can happen) Then you risk your real IP address being leaked to both your ISP and the website you’re browsing which always saves all IPs addresses. It could also be that your internet loses connection. When you’re connected again, you’ll need to reconnect to your VPN. During this time you are not protected from leakage.

If you then have a kill switch installed on your VPN app or device, you risk no leaks. It immediately shuts down and continues to block your traffic. This way you never have to worry.

Unfortunately, this is not available on Trust.Zone, so it is important to know that you have a good internet connection where you are. You also have to trust that the service doesn’t screw up so you get dispatched.

How well does Trust.Zone work in Portugal?

The VPN site Trust.Zone in Portugal works well. As there are more servers in Europe than further afield in the world, the speed around us is just fine. It’s not super rocket speed, but for a regular computer user you won’t notice a noticeable difference. Are you one of those who advance a little and will use a VPN to place your “location” further away? Then they unfortunately do not maintain as high a quality.

Since their site or apps are not translated into Português, it requires a good knowledge and understanding of English, or one of the other languages they offer.
As they were also not super fast on feedback in their support, it can only be good to know a little about VPNs before. The risk is that you have to wait for feedback.

What does Trust.Zone get in the final grade?

In the final rating, we would hold back a little. It’s a VPN service that works, absolutely. However, it is not a service we feel very strongly about if you want to advance a little in the subject. It is suitable for the Scandinavian family or the person who only wants to protect their devices. Be protected from hackers getting in or websites accessing payment card information about you.

The advantage of Trust.Zone is its simplicity. The app for mobile devices and a regular Windows is easy to install. It’s easy to switch between different servers and you can always see if your connection is on. It also worked fine to get around blocks that Netflix has.
The cheap price is definitely one of the cheapest on the market and plays a big role for some. However, those of us who compare many different VPN services may frown a little. Cheaper prices usually mean lower quality and can they really manage to keep you fully protected? The software they use to get you through an encrypted tunnel is expensive and it takes a lot of customers to pull in those sums.

The payment option with Bitcoin and the other encrypted currencies is also something that weighs heavily. This makes us feel somewhat safer when you decide to buy a VPN.

Less good

What is less good and which drags down the rating for trust.zone is the few different number of servers in the different countries. If they invest in more servers in the same country, both connection and speed are improved. The fact that they also don’t have a Killswitch in their service, we think is one of the worst. With a VPN, you always want to feel safe, even if you lose connection for a while. The support they have is also not something we cheer about. This can be a decisive factor on the day you really need help. An example could be when we would install VPN on Xbox 360.

We hope you have become a little wiser and can decide what weighs the most for you in your decision. As usual, there are both pros and cons. If you are a private person who values simplicity and price the most, you think you should drive. If you want to guarantee online security, we would recommend reading more and comparing VPNs.
