What is StrongVPN?
StrongVPN is a service that helps you stay anonymous online. VPN is an abbreviation of virtual private network. To make it super simple described to you, you can imagine a postcard. You should send this postcard to your friend. When you post the letter, everyone who handles the letter on the way to the friend’s mailbox can see the contents of your card, right? In this article, we’ll review StrongVPN, and what they have in place to ensure your security!
When we review a VPN service, we always review their policies and user agreements. In the case of StongVPN, we find no information that they could actually share information about you with third parties through a loophole. In some other cases, there have been question marks or other loopholes found, which can make you somewhat uncertain.
Strong-VPN guarantees through its policies on the website and terms and conditions that they do not store this type of information.
When you sign up for a subscription with them, all you have to do is fill in your email address.
Of course you also need to pay which of course can be traced to you but with another email you solve that problem easily.
Thin with information
What we find we think looks good in terms of their security, however it is a bit thin with information. The Website is very simple, which can be a plus. Here, however, there is a small minus as they do not develop very much in their security functions. We see that they do not share with third parties and that they make use of logging of your data. However, we lack basic information about the different protocols they have.
How much does StrongVPN cost and is there a monthly trial?
There is no trial by month. However, they do have a 30 day Money Back Guarantee on your subscriptions. We signed up for a month when we would test their service and it was not particularly difficult to get the money back. However, you need a good reason.
StrongVPN has 2 plans you can sign up for. The ones available to choose from are 1 month or 12 months. It may seem a little cliche, but we believe in the concept of keep it simple.
They are clear about it and keep a straight line throughout the website structure so that there are only 2 subscriptions does not surprise us. Keep in mind, however, that there are other VPN services that offer a wider range.
They are not the cheapest on the market. However, we can agree with what they mean when they write that the cheaper the VPN, or if you find a free VPN, they don’t always keep the Security good. How many servers does StrongVPN have?
One can quickly conclude that they should not have so many servers in different countries due to thin homepage. However, one should be careful not to draw too hasty conclusions. We were pleasantly surprised when we saw that they had up to 1000 servers (almost 950) in 30 countries. It may be that they adapted to make it just super easy to find on the page and sign up for a subscription. After all, not many people look up all the relevant information before buying.
On their website you can find the 30 different countries and when you tap on them you can see where there are placed servers. Countries included include:
- Norway
- Portugal
- Korea
- Japan
- Italy
- Costa Rica
- Germany
They extend all over the world and there are at least 2 servers in each country. This allows you to position yourself on another in case the speed would be slightly worse. This is usually due to the fact that too many are simultaneously located on the same server.
Does StrongVPN work with IPTV?
IPTV + VPN = TRUE
It has become more and more popular with IPTV today as many are tired of the usual providers. IPTV is not legal today. Now it is usually the one who sends out the information they want, but it is nice to protect yourself with a VPN anyway.
Over the past year, it has grown somewhat enormously and about 15% of all people who buy a VPN buy it because of the IPTV security. However, there is a lot of information about connection problems and bugs when connecting this. That is why we have chosen to include this in our review.
It is easy to install StrongVPN on its IPTV, there was no problem when we would log in and select the country as well as the server. We also tried changing the server several times during the test as it is a common problem to be ejected and have to restart. Strong VPN passed the test and it worked great to switch all the time. We were also able to Watch Series and movies without any bugs. 10/10!
Does it work on netflix
Did it work equally well on Netflix and Svt-play then? Netflix is also a big factor in why people buy VPNs. By getting a VPN, you can access blocked content – just like content on netflix. We launched the app on the phone and set ourselves up in the US. The reason we chose the USA is because it is where most series are found that have not premiered in Portugal yet. We found the content, and it was quick and easy. However, we ran into problems when we wanted to change the country and server. Out of nowhere, we were kicked out of the program. We had to restart netflix and log into the VPN app again. This made us a little doubtful.
Does StrongVPN have good speed?
StrongVPN sits on high-speed connections and brags all over its site about its speed. We must only agree that the speed is terribly good! It has not bugged in any movie/series or gone sluggish when we surfed the net. Sure, we were ejected from netflix but it has nothing to do with speed. However, it may have to do with the connection. One reason may also be that there are too many connected on the same server that makes the connection not hang up.
How many devices can I connect?
You can connect up to 12 devices at the same time. In this you can hook up your router that protects you optimally in the home. We did not have access to 12 devices at the time of the test, but were allowed to connect 9 pieces. What we check is whether the speed is good on all devices when connected at the same time. We also check that you should not be evicted as you risk leaks. Last thing we check is whether it is easy to install the app on all devices.
With 9 devices connected, the speed maintained its speed on all devices. We were ejected from 2 phones during the weeks we tested switching servers. This is a concern but we will get to safety further down.
Having a VPN for router can be done in two different ways. We installed it on an existing router, however, this is quite advanced. There is a description on their website. However, we recommend purchasing a pre-installed router. With this, you can automatically connect more devices. With a Router, you protect all your devices in the home that are connected to it. Inkls. playstation, etc.
We have tested lighter installations than the StrongVPN has for their router and that is why we recommend a purchased one of them installed and ready. There are several different to choose from with them.
Does StrongVPN have a support in case of problems?
All VPN services have some kind of support, so you can always test how good it is.
StrongVPN has a chat directly on the homepage that comes up as soon as you enter. There you can choose which “department” you want to have contact with and ask your question. However, it wants you to validate your profile with e.g. Facebook, which I don’t like. If you are already a customer, it is much easier to get in touch with them via this chat. You can also fill in a question form under “contact us”. Then just fill in the email to which you want to have your answer sent. There is also a number to call them.
We tested 3 times, signals came up but no response. Very detailed answers with links to help, however, on mail contact. We pretended to have problems with the installation and they gladly helped them with it.
How do I get started?
You need to download the StrongVPN app to get started. Then there is a manual on their page for the different devices you intend to use. Depending on whether you have Linux, iOS, Windows, Mac or other device, you install it in different ways.
You first purchase a subscription to get login credentials. Downloading their app (you need to do this on all the devices you intend to use) after logging in, select your country and server. Clear! It’s very easy to get started and it’s very fast. StrongVPN doesn’t have a lot of hassles and questions you have to answer when installing the program, which is great. There will also come an indication that you are connected so you don’t have to think about it. The times we have been sent out, either the entire program has been shut down or it lights up with red text that you are not connected.
What payment options are available?
You can pay with your regular debit or credit card.
You can also pay with PayPal or Alipay. In Portugal, Alipay is not particularly common, but it is a payment service for mobile payments or online payment.
Can I use it to download?
Yes. Because your data will be encrypted and your IP address will be hidden.. It is not illegal to have a VPN. What you choose to do with it is your own decision and the laws that exist do not stop to apply because you have a VPN. Har StrongVPN en kill switch?
Many people wonder about a Kill Switch and in this case it becomes very relevant. When we have been through that we have lost contact and been evicted (it can happen to even the best), you want to feel safe even then. If there is no kill switch, there is a risk that your information will leak and your real IP address may fall into the wrong hands. In addition, if you are on an open network, hackers can access very sensitive information about you, such as bank details and passwords.
It feels good when we discovered that StrongVPN has this protection. This means that when you lose contact, it locks everything right away. It does not leak your data. It remains protected until you log in again, then you enter a new timeline and nothing you’ve done before is saved.
What does StrongVPN get in the final rating?
Overall, we think StrongVPN is a really good VPN service. It is easy to understand, easy to use. The speed was good and we know for sure that if companies choose these, they keep what they promise.
We would have liked to have a slightly more designed page with deeper diving into some things. As an ordinary private person, this is not required, but we consider them so good that even those who are more advanced in this matter will buy the service. Here, then, one would have wanted more explanation of their protocol and killswitch.
The most common number to be able to hook up is 5-10 devices. With StrongVPN, you can connect up to 12 devices. If you buy their router or reconfigure your own, you can use significantly more. Overkill for little family who just want to protect themselves from hackers but an important issue for others.
